Kiwi General Insurance Enters India with a Fresh Take on Motor Insurance

Kiwi General Insurance has formally entered the Indian market with a stated mission to make insurance simpler, faster, and more dependable. Founded by Mr. Neelesh Garg and Mr. Saurav Jaiswal, the digital-native insurer received regulatory approval in March 2026 and is backed by Westbridge Capital. The company begins operations with motor insurance for private cars, a category it has chosen deliberately for its widespread and well-documented consumer pain points.

The company has introduced three industry-first features designed to remove the anxiety that typically surrounds the claims process. Super NCB allows customers to file a claim without losing their entire no-claim bonus — they drop only one level on the discount scale instead of resetting to zero, and can earn up to 40% more discount than standard structures. Flexi Repair lets customers bank minor damages and combine them with a larger claim later, eliminating the need to file multiple smaller claims that each attract a compulsory deductible. InstaCash provides immediate funds on the day a vehicle is booked for repair, transferred directly to the customer’s account — so they are never left managing out-of-pocket expenses while their car is being fixed.

The company has also introduced PayFirst, a feature that gives customers the freedom to take their vehicle to any garage of their choice — including those outside Kiwi’s network — and receive an instant payout. For its distributor network, Kiwi offers same-day digital onboarding, instant reconciliation, performance dashboards, and shared claim trackers, designed to remove internal bottlenecks and let agents focus on client service.

Powered by a fully in-house proprietary technology stack, Kiwi’s operating model combines digital speed with human support — covering instant policy issuance, real-time claim tracking, faster claim decisions, and single-point ownership of customer queries. The company plans to expand into multiple insurance categories in the coming months.

“The insurance industry has long been shaped by legacy processes that create customer apprehension. Our goal is to rebuild it from first principles using technology, data, and disciplined execution. With Kiwi, we are building an institution that customers and partners can truly rely on,” Neelesh Garg, Founder, Kiwi General Insurance.

“Customers today expect clarity, speed, and reliability, especially in moments that matter. Starting with motor insurance, we aim to set a new standard for how insurance is delivered. For us, ‘Your Peace, Our Policy’ is not just our philosophy — it is the commitment behind every product we build and every interaction we design,” Saurav Jaiswal, MD and CEO, Kiwi General Insurance.
