Delivering world-class quality products in the urban mass transit industry, MassTrans is bullish on the Indian bus market and is pushing ahead with fresh orders. Speaking to MOTORINDIA, Vinay Jain, Managing Director, MassTrans, revealed: “We have got several projects lined up that were put on hold due to the general elections. Now the orders have started to move and fall in place. This year we are expecting significant growth in the smart city segment for us. Under the smart cities initiative, we should be doing projects worth Rs. 25 to 30 crores and as a company (with other products) we should be able to do a business worth Rs. 75 to 80 crores. We are also working on projects assigned to us by the OEMs for the corporations of PMPML, DIMTS and UPSRTC and supplying PIS, ITS, MDVRs and cameras.”

At Prawaas, the company appeared in its new brand design and logo, but continued its quality offering across solutions like Intelligent Transport Solution (ITS), Highway Traffic Management System (HTMS), Parking Management, Automatic Fare Collection and many more. Speaking about the new version of the Reverse Parking Assistance System (RPAS), Jain informed: “We are working on a robust system that will be equipped with camera, sensor and buzzer. While the BIS committee is still finalizing whether either one or all three features need to be part of the system, we feel a system having all three are essential for a commercial vehicle. This will eradicate any possibility of reverse blind spot fatalities.”

Acceptance of such extensive products cannot be without a good sales and technical support staff. Not only the inherent product quality but also very strong aftersales service is what sets MassTrans apart from its competitors. “Getting the fundamentals of quality and technology has helped us taste success in the Indian market. We are also backed by a fantastic network of 22 service technicians across the country,” he asserted.

An expert in LED sign board requirements for intra- and inter-city buses, the company has also been extending its services to metros and railways. In fact, the company has been gearing up for an Integrated Fare Collection Validator with an open loop system. “The customer will have to merely scan his ticket at the machine and he will get access to the commute. The system will use the QR code on the printed or digital ticket. The amount for whatever distance the passenger has (booked the ticket) travelled for will be deducted from his bank account / wallet,” informed the Managing Director.

Apart from its manufacturing units at Talawade and Chakan in Pune, MassTrans has also set up a new R&D Centre in Pune to develop solutions related to smart city projects, solutions for e-vehicles and continue innovating on its existing products.
