IntrCity SmartBus Expands Physical Infrastructure with New Mobility Hubs and Fresh N Up Lounges

IntrCity SmartBus, a tech-enabled intercity mobility platform, is expanding its physical infrastructure to bring greater structure, predictability, and convenience to intercity travel. The company currently operates three Mobility Hubs in Anand Vihar, Delhi; Katra, Jammu; and Sangamwadi, Maharashtra, alongside three Fresh N Up Lounges in Tirupati, Katra, and Ujjain. These facilities complement its existing network of over 25 SmartBus Lounges and more than 100 boarding partners, which together serve nearly 50% of its customers.

The Mobility Hubs are designed as larger, integrated boarding facilities that bring passenger waiting areas and bus bays together at a single organised location. Each hub can accommodate over 100 passengers at a time, with multiple buses able to arrive, board, and depart from the same location. By moving boarding away from roadside pickup points, the hubs aim to reduce confusion, minimise delays, and improve departure predictability, while enabling closer coordination between passengers, bus captains, and ground teams. The hubs currently offer air-conditioned waiting areas, toilets, internet connectivity, charging points, and beverages, along with dedicated resting areas for drivers and bus captains. IntrCity is also evaluating the integration of OEM-supported service centres at select hubs to strengthen fleet readiness and technical support.

Mr. Dinesh Rathi, spokesperson, IntrCity, said the vision behind the Mobility Hub extends beyond passenger convenience, aiming to bring boarding and bus operations into a more structured environment that improves predictability for passengers while supporting operational efficiency and crew wellbeing, calling it a reimagining of the boarding experience after having already brought order to the bus journey itself.

IntrCity plans to expand its Mobility Hub network across key intercity travel markets including Chennai, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, as well as emerging markets such as Trichy and Rajahmundry, guided by passenger demand, route density, and the operational requirements of individual corridors.

Alongside its Mobility Hubs, IntrCity has introduced Fresh N Up Lounges in Tirupati, Katra, and Ujjain, designed specifically for passengers on pilgrimage routes, offering cloak rooms, shower and changing facilities, and beverages, allowing travellers to freshen up before darshan without booking a hotel room. The format addresses a specific need in pilgrimage travel, where passengers often have limited time between arrival, darshan, and their return journey, making same-day pilgrimage itineraries more practical. IntrCity will evaluate extending this format to other pilgrimage destinations based on demand.

The expansion builds on IntrCity’s broader effort to standardise the intercity bus journey, combining its SmartBus Lounges, boarding partners, and Mobility Hubs to create a more consistent experience across different stages of travel, as the company builds a wider ecosystem around the intercity journey focused on making travel more organised, predictable, and convenient.
