The commercial fleet industry is entering an era where intelligence will be measured not by the number of alerts it generates, but by the quality of the decisions it enables. According to Mr. Anup Patil, CEO and Co-founder, fleet management is evolving beyond vehicle tracking and predictive maintenance towards prescriptive intelligence, technology that tells an operator what to do next, and by when, before a disruption occurs.

“Fleet technology used to stop at telling an operator something was wrong. That is no longer enough. The value today lies in telling them exactly what to do about it, and how urgently, so uptime and profitability are protected across the whole operation, not just one vehicle at a time,” said Mr. Patil. “Every one of those gains carries a quieter benefit alongside it. A fleet that wastes less fuel and needs fewer emergency repairs is also a fleet putting less carbon into the air, whether it runs on diesel or electricity, and that is really the outcome we are building towards underneath everything else.”

That distinction carries more weight than it might first appear. Commercial trucks and buses make up fewer than one in ten vehicles on the road worldwide, yet they are responsible for more than a third of direct carbon dioxide emissions from road transport. A small, targeted improvement in how this segment is run therefore has an outsized effect on transport emissions overall, which is precisely why Mr. Patil sees decision quality, not just vehicle count or powertrain choice, as the more consequential lever.

He explained that a fleet platform can no longer assess a vehicle in isolation. Its age, its route, the driver behind the wheel, its maintenance history, its powertrain, its load, and the climate it operates in, all of these determine whether a shift in temperature, fuel consumption, voltage, or braking performance needs attention immediately or can safely wait until the vehicle completes its trip.

As fleets grow more complex, decision intelligence will need to bring maintenance planning, route optimisation, driver management, energy consumption, and asset allocation together into one connected system. Equally important, in Mr. Patil’s view, is that every recommendation the system makes can be explained, showing which signals changed, what risk they represent, and what action is being suggested and why.

Looking towards 2030, Intangles aims to make Prescriptive Fleet Intelligence the industry standard. Rather than simply predicting failures, its Digital Twin technology is designed to assess operational risk, recommend corrective action, and help fleets coordinate maintenance, vehicle allocation, and trip planning well before a disruption reaches business performance.

“By 2030, the winners will be fleets that make the right decisions before failure gets the chance to make those decisions for them,” he said.

The company’s roadmap includes expanding its Digital Twin offerings across OEMs, fleet operators, and channel partners, while strengthening its presence across Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. Intangles is also taking its technology into industries beyond commercial road transport, including mining, agriculture, construction equipment, and gensets.
