Indication Instruments Expands Portfolio with Ready-Made Displays and Smart Sensors

Faridabad-based Indication Instruments wants to take its displays and sensors from India’s trucks to Europe’s. At IAA Transportation 2026, the company showcased a range of new products, including ready-made digital displays and smart sensors, as it looks to win business with European commercial vehicle makers.

The company makes digital displays, instrument clusters, gauges and sensors, mainly for commercial vehicles but also for construction and off-road machines. Among its newest ideas are off-the-shelf displays that customers can use with little or no change.

Mr. Akshat Lalani, Director, Indication Instruments, explained why this matters. Some customers need only small volumes, and developing a brand-new display for them is expensive. A ready-made product avoids most of that cost, which is especially valuable in a price-sensitive market like India. For Europe, the company has chosen standard sizes that are widely used, so only minor changes, if any, should be needed.

Indication Instruments is also steadily growing its sensor range. New additions include sensors that check the level and quality of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). One of its standout products is a self-calibrating fuel sensor that also works as an anti-theft device, sending alerts if someone tries to steal fuel. It works with both petrol and diesel. Mr. Lalani said the company was the first to introduce this technology in India and has been supplying it for six years to truck makers, who fit it directly into their fuel tanks.

The company already exports to more than 50 countries, mostly for the aftermarket. At IAA, its goal was to meet European truck makers, learn about the technologies they use and the vehicles they are building, and explore opportunities to supply them directly, while also growing its aftermarket business. “We didn’t come with a specific target market in mind. We came to see what’s going on, what’s new,” Mr. Lalani said.

To support its growth, Indication Instruments has an engineering centre in Faridabad with more than 100 engineers, along with newer tech centres in Bengaluru and Pune. It also plans to expand manufacturing by adding a second SMT (surface-mount technology) line for electronics production, he added.
