Blackbuck Electric Vehicles has unveiled ELON 3X, its 15-metre multi-axle electric sleeper coach, marking a significant milestone in the development of premium long-distance electric mobility in India.
Completely designed, engineered and developed in-house in India, ELON 3X combines the capacity of a full-size sleeper coach with a purpose-built electric vehicle platform, bringing together passenger comfort, operational efficiency and advanced vehicle technologies.
A New Scale of Electric Sleeper Travel
Designed specifically for long-distance intercity transportation, ELON 3X features a three-axle configuration developed to accommodate higher passenger and luggage capacity while prioritising ride comfort and highway stability.
The coach offers 42 sleeper berths, plus driver and Codriver providing operators with a high-capacity configuration for premium overnight journeys.
Recognising the high luggage capacity requirements of Indian intercity bus operators, Blackbuck EV has designed ELON 3X with more than 9 m³ of dedicated luggage space, addressing an important operational need in long-distance Intercity bus travel.
Its contemporary exterior styling, spacious sleeper interiors and thoughtfully designed passenger environment are intended to deliver a refined travel experience for long-distance journeys.
Born-Electric Skateboard Architecture
At the heart of ELON 3X is Blackbuck EV’s Born-Electric Skateboard Architecture, developed specifically for electric mobility rather than adapting a conventional diesel-powered platform.
This architecture integrates lightweight structural design, electric propulsion, energy storage and electrical systems into a unified vehicle platform.
Ultra-Lightweight Design has been a central engineering priority, aimed at optimising energy efficiency while supporting passenger capacity, durability and long-term operating economics.
ELON 3X offers two battery configurations — 425 kWh and 565 kWh — designed to accommodate different long-distance operational requirements.
Four Years of Development and Real-World Validation
ELON 3X represents four years of dedicated engineering and product development, including two years of continuous real-world road testing across the vehicle development programme.
Testing under actual road conditions has played an important role in refining the vehicle’s handling, stability, ride comfort, system integration and durability.
The extended development programme reflects Blackbuck EV’s emphasis on thorough engineering, continuous improvement and product maturity.
By prioritising real-world evaluation and refinement, the company has focused on developing a dependable electric coach platform suited to the demanding requirements of long-distance passenger transportation.
Advanced Suspension, Safety and Ride Comfort
ELON 3X introduces an advanced suspension configuration to India’s premium electric sleeper coach segment, featuring independent suspension, with active tag-axle steering.
Combined with Electronically Controlled Air Suspension (ECAS), this configuration is designed to enhance ride comfort, highway handling and low-speed manoeuvrability, particularly for a 15-metre intercity coach.
The vehicle also incorporates advanced braking and stability technologies as standard equipment, including:
- Electronic Braking System (EBS)
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Disc brakes on all wheels
These integrated systems are designed to support controlled braking, vehicle stability and passenger ride comfort during long-distance highway operations.
ELON 3X has been engineered with reference to European automotive standards and international design practices, reflecting Blackbuck EV’s commitment to developing electric mobility products for Indian and global markets.
Engineered in India, with a Global Vision
ELON 3X demonstrates Blackbuck EV’s in-house capabilities in vehicle architecture, structural engineering, system integration and complete vehicle development.
The programme combines original Indian engineering with technologies and components sourced through collaborations with established international automotive suppliers.

ELON 3X Reservations Now Open
Blackbuck EV has opened reservations for ELON 3X, with commercial production targeted from mid-2027.
The company is engaging with prospective intercity transport operators as it prepares to bring ELON 3X to the market.
