Geopolitical shifts are redrawing the global manufacturing map — and India is perfectly positioned to claim its place at the centre, says Mr. Prashanth Doreswamy, President & CEO, AUMOVIO India.

The commercial vehicle (CVs) and construction equipment (CEs) industry faces a powerful convergence of stricter regulations, digital transformation, and shifting supply chains. Toward 2030, intelligent safety and fleet logistics will lead. ADAS, AI-enabled driver monitoring, and collision avoidance are becoming standard, while fleet operators focus on integrating safety features with real-time telematics to optimise uptime, reduce total cost of ownership, and maximise productivity.
Electrification will gather momentum, though its trajectory will vary by segment. LCVs are leading adoption due to favourable economics, while heavy CVs and CEs will follow a more gradual path as charging infrastructure and battery technologies mature.
Meanwhile, geopolitical shifts are driving manufacturing realignment, creating a strategic window for India to emerge as a global hub for engineering, R&D, and advanced manufacturing. By 2030, market leaders will be those who seamlessly combine hardware reliability, intelligent connectivity, and localised manufacturing excellence.
Scaling New Heights
“At AUMOVIO India, our vision for 2030 is centred on leveraging India’s vast engineering and manufacturing capabilities to develop high-performance mobility solutions for both domestic and global markets. A core priority is advancing our connected mobility and safety architecture. We are expanding our local capabilities in high-performance vehicle electronics, architecture, and secure connectivity,” he noted.
The company is scaling India as a global engineering and manufacturing hub. Producing over 10 million Airbag Control Units at its Bengaluru facility — with most components sourced locally — demonstrates that capability, while deepening supply chain resilience and supporting its long-term global EBIT margin ambition of 6% to 8%.
A key strategic focus is strengthening the CV portfolio through smart tachographs and GNSS-based ECUs for tolling — enabling secure positioning, electronic toll collection, and regulatory compliance. By integrating trusted vehicle data with cloud-based services, the company is helping customers improve operational efficiency, reduce total cost of ownership, and prepare for next-generation intelligent transport systems.
“Finally, talent remains central to our execution. We are actively strengthening our partnerships with academic institutions across India to nurture a robust pipeline of talent skilled in embedded systems, hardware-software integration, and vehicle cybersecurity, ensuring we have the specialised capability required to lead the industry forward,” Mr. Doreswamy concluded.
“By leveraging robust cloud framework integrations, we enable advanced vehicle diagnostics, fleet management, and predictive maintenance, ensuring CV and CE assets remain deeply integrated into the modern logistics ecosystem.”
