ZF gives a glimpse into ‘Future Urban Construction Site’

ZF Friedrichshafen AG, a global leader in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety technology, reinforced its commitment as a system supplier that can provide solution on the lines of its theme, See, Think and Act, at the show.

Explaining the company’s focus at the event, Alexander Eisner, Head of Product Communications for Off-Highway Systems at ZF Friedrichshafen AG, said: “With See, we recognize the working environment through radar technologies, through Think we transform it into action with intelligent software and drive control unit and we ACT through transmission and axle technologies. Further we are showcasing how can we upgrade the efficiency of the vehicle, electrification with zero emission, connectivity between how axle, transmission and shafts communicate with each other to provide safe environment on a construction site.”

The company showcased a wheel-loader axle with automated powershift technology, promising 15 per cent fuel efficiency with ZF efficiency package. Eisner added: “We are following our customers and already making in India as per their needs. With our motto ‘The Future Urban Construction Site’ we are showcasing how ZF is encountering future trends and challenges like growing cities, maintenance of urban infrastructure, CO2 reduction or noise pollution.”

As more OEMs upgrade their efficiency it will only benefit ZF. Last July, the company opened a new assembly line at its Coimbatore plant, which is based at ZF Windpower Coimbatore Pvt. Ltd. It is built to accommodate, assembling of axles for backhoe loader, wheel loader and compactor applications. As a global technology supplier, ZF has developed and manufactured driveline systems and axles for construction machinery for half a century and equips a wide range of construction vehicles with state-of-the-art axle and driveline technology.

Tilo Huber, Head of ZF’s Construction Equipment Business from Passau, Germany, said: “Our new state-of-the-art assembly facility will help us to address increasing demand. The Indian market is increasingly important for ZF Group and particularly for our off-highway business. Our activities are appreciated by local OEMs and support our competitiveness for global customers.” The new assembly line will address the expected market demand and add capacity for local customers as well as for export markets.

Adding on the importance for the Indian market, Suresh KV, Head of Region India, ZF, states: “Private and public investment in building and infrastructure are key for India’s economic growth. With our new assembly line, we support the localization of vehicle production for off-highway applications. Bringing key technology to the Indian market underlines the growing importance of our home market.”
