Vetus riding high on growing success of pressurized electric toilet system

Vetus & Maxwell Marine India Pvt. Ltd., one of the most prominent organizations engaged in manufacturing, trading and exporting a wide range of solutions for long distance bus travel. These include windows & glazing, power management, ventilation and waste water systems, exhibited its Pressurized Electric Toilet System at the show. Apart from the toilet system, Vetus offers custom-made bus windows, escape hatches, Combi-gamma Inverter cum battery chargers and dry cell AGM Batteries.

Mr. Rohit Jani, Director, Vetus & Maxwell Marine India Pvt. Ltd.

“Commode or passenger toilets are the least looked-after and most neglected aspects in the bus industry, despite given the high levels of customer expectation these systems attract. We believe toilets are one of the most valuable products which, in long distance buses, score high on customers’ priority list.  Passengers are beginning to ask the bus operators for toilets in the bus. 4 to 5 years ago, people were not too sure whether to use these toilets but now, driven by necessity and thanks to the pleasant experience of using our product, we have come to a level of receiving an enquiry for 100 toilet sets from a single customer which is really encouraging”, informed Mr. Rohit Jani, Director, Vetus & Maxwell Marine India Pvt. Ltd.

Knowing the product

The benefits of the pressurized electric toilet systems are many over the conventional chemical ones. It is like what we have at home. It is environment friendly as there is no chemical getting added to the environment. For the first installation, the company sends its staff to the bus operators’ site and in case of multiple installations they even train the operators’ staff. “The driver will know on the dashboard when to fill the tank with water and when to release the waste and an appropriate location for the same. With just a press of the button, the driver can flush the waste,” explained Mr. Jani.

The Vetus system comes with a 120-litre fresh water tank and a waste water tank of equal capacity that can take care of 60 flushes. Although an operator has to sacrifice a floor space of around 12 sq. ft. which accounts for two seats, the premium that can be demanded by adding a toilet would fetch quite an encouraging return. “Given the nascent market and evolving understanding of the concept in India, the entire equipment including GST would cost the bus operator approximately Rs. 1.5 lakhs for the entire system including the two 120 ltr tanks, a sensor and a pump with touch panel operation along with other piping. The system treats the waste as we have in our houses, thereby allowing the gas to be released in the atmosphere, trapping the smell in the carbon candle inside. It also comes with a no-smell filter for toilet waste tanks which has been tested and proven in house boats in Europe,” he beamed.

Vetus’ system is a ‘Made in India’ product and comes with a great warranty offer. “We offer a three-year warranty on all our products. We make the parts available if any problem occurs and customers can get the parts replaced in case something goes wrong during the warranty period. The product is also exported to Europe and Africa from India and we have sold almost 2,000 units a year for different applications such as trains, buses and caravans”, concluded the Director.
