V. Suryanarayanan has been appointed as Managing Director & CEO of Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Company Limited (Chola MS), a joint venture between the Murugappa Group and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group.
Suryanarayanan is a graduate of Commerce, a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA), Company Secretary (ACS) and Associate Member of Insurance Institute of India (AIII). He started his career with Sundaram Clayton Limited, learning the ropes of management accounting. In 1992, he moved to SRF Finance Limited as Regional Finance Manager and in 1996 joined Chola Finance to head the credit, operations functions and became the CFO of the Company. In 2006, he joined Chola MS as CFO and later headed the functions of claims, underwriting & reinsurance. He has led several transformation projects within the company focusing on growth, efficiency and productivity. He became President and Chief Operating Officer in 2019 and took over as Managing Director & CEO in July 2020.
