Turkish automotive team visits India to promote ties with Indian industry

India today is the sixth largest passage car market and the eighth largest commercial vehicle market, attracting various automotive Tier-1 suppliers from overseas. A Turkish delegation sponsored by the Turkish Ministry of Economy and the Turkish Association of Automotive Parts and Components Manufacturers (TAYSAD) visited India during April 15-21 with an agenda to faster bilateral trade relations between the Turkish and Indian automotive industry.

The delegation consisting of 40 members, including 14 Turkish Tier-1 supplier companies, and representatives from product commodities like HVAC, suspension, steering, exhaust systems, battery charging units, casting, forging, sheet metal parts, gears, rubber parts, lubricants, seats, design services, steering columns, radiators, wiring harness & electricals, etc., visited Ashok Leyland in Chennai for supporting EV development & Euro 6 upgradation.

There were also B2B meetings conducted in Chennai and Delhi, where over 150 Indian companies met Turkish firms and discussed possibilities of co-operation for outsourcing, technology tie-up and joint ventures.

The Turkish firms also showed keen interest in participating in the ‘Make in India’ initiative by visiting the Invest India Office in New Delhi. This was attended by various purchasing & sourcing people from different OEMs like Tata, Mahindra, Escort, Sonalika, Bharat Benz, MAN, KIA Motors, Preet Tractors, TAFE, etc.
