S. K. Nagpal’s 50 years of service to Indian auto industry

S.K. Nagpal, a well-known face in the Indian auto component and auto aftermarket sector has completed 50 years of dedicated service to the industry and is still going strong. Having started his career in 1970 with a dashboard instruments manufacturing company Autometers, Nagpal has had the opportunity to serve some of the best and most reputed component manufacturing companies in the country including Gabriel India and its group companies, Shriram Pistons and Rings, Total Lubricants India, Valvoline Cummins India, Allied Nippon, Benara Bearings and Pistons and ALP Overseas (Anand Nishikawa Group), among others, in various capacities, handling various products.

After superannuating in 2013 the veteran switched over to the role of Advisor / Consultant Sales and Marketing under which he first worked with Spark Minda, an Ashok Minda Group company. During his tenure of nearly four years at the organization, many new products were launched and significant market development took place. A strong and widespread distribution network was put in place with new systems and procedures, resulting in a tripling of turnover.

Talking about his association with Spark Minda, Nagpal says, “It is a great company to work with, being highly market-oriented and customer-friendly, which is a rare combination to find these days. I feel quite proud to have worked with them.”

Nagpal also got an opportunity to work with a top-of-the-line brake shoe, clutch plate and clutch parts manufacturing company Makino Automotive, under the dynamic leadership of its young and energetic MD, Rishubh Bhandari. Couple of other leading companies Nagpal got to work with include VIR Rubber Company, a rubber manufacturing company from Mumbai and JCA, a top-quality two-wheeler plastic fibre body parts manufacturing company in Delhi.

After finishing his assignments with the above companies, Nagpal took up the role of Marketing Advisor at a number of companies. Currently he is actively engaged with the following groups / companies:

  1. i) Mark Exhaust Systems – he is attached to their shock absorber division for the last 3.5 years and since the inception of the aftermarket division.
  2. ii) Stanadyne India – Nagpal is responsible for their new product marketing and business development.

iii) Rizol Petro Products – Having the required background and experience in launching TOTAL Lubricants in India with great success, Nagpal is supporting the growth of this manufacturer of various types of lubricants and greases.

He is also associated with a high-quality rubber manufacturing company which is going to launch its superior quality products very shortly in the Indian aftermarket. He further informs that there are some more opportunities in line for to him to be considered for the role of business development.

Nagpal started his career as a Sales Executive and went on to become President – Sales and Marketing at various companies. He has deep knowledge of the Indian auto aftermarket and is well aware of the distribution systems, grass-route operations and demand generation systems which work in the long run.

In his career spanning 50 years, Nagpal has had the opportunity to travel extensively across the country and also overseas to appoint and meet distributors and customers and to launch new products in the Indian aftermarket space. On the whole, the aftermarket expert is delighted and proud of his service to the auto sector and is keen on continuing with enthusiasm for many years to come.
