NTC Logistics continues to lead the way in ODC transport with launch of ‘Tower Adaptor’

NTC Logistics India, a market leader in the Over Dimensional Cargo (ODC) transport segment, has once again come up with a highly innovative and tech-heavy solution for its customers. At a highly festive customer’s meet held at Mahabalipuram on July 27, NTC launched a new Tower Adaptor compatible with modular vehicles that could carry tower segments up to 100 MT and 5,000 mm diameter.

NTC Logistics India, formerly known as Namakkal Transport Carriers, is a pioneer in providing integrated solutions for moving heavy ODC since 1997. The launch of the new Tower Adaptor comes as another important milestone for the company following the introduction of the Wind Blade Adaptor in 2016.

The launch function was held in the presence of Mr. Ramesh Kymal, Chairman of the Renewable Energy Council of CII Godrej Green Business Centre, and Chairman & Managing Director of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, India, as the chief guest. He was companied by Dr. M. Ravi, Additional Director General of Police Headquarters, Tamil Nadu.

In his address, Mr. Ramesh Kymal said: “NTC Logistics has always been innovative and come up with new launches every year. They have gained the top spot in the industry. NTC’s strong team work and their regularity in bringing in innovative new equipment has led us to believe that there would be no problem if NTC handles a transportation.”

Dr. Ravi said that NTC has always been pivotal in the country’s economic growth. “Under the leadership of Mr. Chandramohan, Chairman and Founder of NTC, the company has made rapid strides. Today’s launch has given a solution to efficiently move bigger components and equipment weighing close to even a hundred tons”, he shared.

Problem-solver

The wind equipment industry in India has encountered numerous changes, leading businesses to make a shift towards large-sized turbines. However, the current road infrastructure creates tough challenges with transportation of these equipment and components, especially with turbines with tower section of over 4.5 m in diameter.

Chandramohan, Chairman & Managing Director, NTC Logistics (seventh, sixth and fifth from left respectively), with other guests and NTC executives at the launch of the Tower Adaptor in Chennai

NTC’s new adaptor trailer is said to overcome these infrastructural constraints with ease and help customers trying to transport bigger dimension towers. The adaptor features a lift that is capable of lifting the tower component to a maximum height of 1,000 mm. Additionally, a lower self-weight and a self-loading and unloading provisions are installed.

Special clamps have been introduced to improve the safety during transportation and also improve the handling. NTC promises that these features could cut down handling costs, and similar products could also be fit in the same tower adaptor.

The company has partnered with businesses across 100 countries and has provided cost-effective solutions to sectors such as renewable energy, engineering and manufacturing, oil and gas, automobiles, mining, life science, health care and FMCG.

According to Mr. Venkatesh. R, NTC CFO, the company is considered the world’s leading player in providing transportation solution to the wind energy sector. “NTC is gaining equal dominance in the country’s solar power sector as well”, he said.

NTC is the largest fleet owner in the country in its niche segment with over 741 prime movers, 685 mechanical trailers and 510 hydraulic axles. The company runs seven state-of-the-art service centres for the upkeep of its fleet. It has also set up driver training centres to ensure the best quality practices and uncompromising safety on road.

He said the company plans to begin courier services from Hong Kong and China. “NTC will be the only Indian company that could handle courier shipment of less than 330 grams and also an adaptor component weighing 360 metric tons”, he said, highlighting the range and flexibility offered by the company.
