L&T’s impressive show Infrastructure segment, the major contributor

Larsen & Toubro, an engineering conglomerate, recorded gross revenue of Rs. 57,164 crores for the year ended March 31, 2014, registering a growth of 10 per cent over the previous year. The international revenue during the year at Rs. 9,129 crores constituted 16 per cent of the total revenue and registered a y-o-y growth of 22 per cent.

The company successfully secured fresh orders worth Rs. 94,108 crores during the year, registering a significant y-o-y growth of 15 per cent on a large base despite a sluggish economic environment during 2013-14. The international order inflow during the year at Rs. 30,752 crores grew more than 3 times on a y-o-y basis, constituting 33 per cent of the total order inflow. Major orders during year were procured by the infrastructure segment.

The Board of Directors has recommended a dividend of Rs. 14.25 per equity share.

Infrastructure segment

Infrastructure segment achieved customer revenue of Rs. 34,516 crores for the year, registering a healthy y-o-y growth of 23 per cent, driven by buildings and factories, power transmission & distribution, transportation infrastructure and water & renewable energy businesses. International sales constituted 15 per cent of the total customer revenue of the segment during the year.

The infrastructure segment recorded a consistently upward trend in the order intake throughout the year. The order inflow for the year stood at Rs. 76,396 crores, registering 37 per cent growth over the previous year. International orders constituted around 33 per cent of the total order inflow of the segment for the year.

MMH segment

The customer revenue of the Metallurgical & Material Handling (MMH) segment during the year was Rs. 5,357 crores, registering a y-o-y decrease of nine per cent, on account of reduced opening order book and slower progress on some of the existing jobs due to pending clearances.

The MMH segment secured fresh orders of Rs. 2,574 crores, registering a decline of 50 per cent over the previous year. The order inflow for the quarter stood at Rs. 562 crores. The order inflow of the segment was lower during 2013-14 on account of several unresolved sectoral issues, adversely impacting expansion plans and new investments in the sector.

The Heavy Engineering segment achieved customer revenue of Rs. 4,291 crores registering an impressive growth of 50 per cent over the previous year with good progress on jobs under execution. International sales constituted 31 per cent of the total customer revenue of the segment.

The Electrical & Automation (E&A) segment recorded customer revenue of Rs. 3,657 crores during the year, registering a modest y-o-y growth of seven per cent. International sales constituted 13 per cent of the total customer revenue of the segment.
