Launches first-ever solar & battery dual-power e-rickshaw

“The world is moving towards electric so as India and Lohia together”, pronounced Mr. Ayush Lohia, CEO of Lohia Auto Industries, at the 14th Auto Expo, Greater Noida, amid much of EV fanfare. The Noida-based automaker, determined to provide eco-friendly and sustainability mobility solutions for the masses, is advancing its foray into electric 3-wheelers aimed at last-mile connectivity in urban and rural areas. The flagship product on display was the Lohia COMFORT E- Auto HS that has been designed and developed indigenously by the company’s R&D team and rolled out commercially in a phased manner. It features advanced 78 AH- capacity Lithium-ion battery compatible with 48V-40A multi stages SMPS charger, a major departure from Lead-acid battery widely used in e-rickshaws so far. Offering a mileage range of 80 km on full charge with a speed of 30 kmph, the e-auto is expected to make a huge difference in the market in terms of battery efficiency and maintenance, said the company.

“Innovation and affordability are always on the forefront while we design any new product. After making a significant success in keeping the electric vehicle moment alive, we are now geared up to take the brand to the next pedestal by adding more value to the products in terms of speed, power, technology and reach”, observed Mr. Lohia.

He also assured that a slew of EV products are slotted for commercial launch from his company in the upcoming years.

Another innovative product that Lohia Auto has developed is the dual power Humrahi Plus, India’s first solar and battery-operated e-rickshaw. The vehicle boasts of solar panel atop its roof, which can charge the batteries on the move, to complement the existing plug-in charging.

In the diesel-run 3-wheeler front, Lohia Auto unveiled Humsafar DLX passenger and Humsafar Loader 2000, powered by single-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine. Mr. Lohia says: “Although our prime focus is on electric, we still would like to cater to other passenger and load applications in the 3-wheeler segment with efficient diesel technology”.

The company, part of Rs. 700-crore Lohia Global, hopes that the commercial e-rickshaw segment is expected to grow by leaps and bounds in the coming years. Making products affordable and technologically-competent is its priority.
