LiuGong India opens up new avenues with rough terrain cranes

Launches its first-ever 60 T-class truck-mounted crane, along with new 23T and 26T class of hydraulic excavators for the Indian market.

A regular attendee to every construction machinery expo in the country in recent times, LiuGong India made a flamboyant show at Excon 2019 with a variety of display products, many of them being new iterations designed for the local market. Notably, the Chinese brand is venturing into the mobile crane segment for the first time in India, with plans to promote entire full range of rough terrain cranes imported from its parent company and marketing them through a different vertical.

Nischal Mehrotra, Director – Sales and Service, LiuGong India

Commenting on the new vertical, Director – Sales and Service, Nischal Mehrotra, said: “Although we are somewhat late in entering this product segment, we are quite optimistic considering the huge demand for cranes in India, especially with the emergence of city infrastructure and metro constructions in B-class cities”.

He added that the segment is highly competitive with many brands and products, but expressed confidence in LiuGong’s technology and service capabilities to drive volumes in this regard.

The company said that about 5 dealer partners for material handling vertical are already in place, predominantly in the Southern region, which is bound to be expanded pan-India. Mehrotra affirmed that after-sales and service network is of paramount importance to LiuGong India, and its aim is to set up touch points close to its key customers and regions. Its dealership count across the country now stands at 23.

Asked on the significance of the Indian CE market, Zeng Guang’an, Chairman of Guangxi Liugong Group, said that the market will continue to grow exponentially in future as well. “In recent times, we have introduced new range of excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, motor graders, and now cranes as well for the Indian market. All these products are equipped with latest technologies. Further, we will continue to invest on local manufacturing capabilities to help our dealers and customers and make stronger our brand even more”, he added.

The Director averred that LiuGong India is keen on adding new products to its basket, as and when the market is ready and its support network strong enough to cater to new products. “We have a huge product base in Chinese and other international markets that can be considered for the Indian market. For instance, we have not touched on concrete equipment, wide body trucks, specialised mining machinery, and so on”, he noted.

Further, his company is also working on training operators in making them aware of the new machines, their technologies and features for optimum productivity and other best practices. “So far, we have trained about 200 operators, and by March end next year, we are targeting 500”, said Mehrotra.
