Indian auto sector has enough potential to lead the world: MOTORINDIA Editor

The Rotary Club of Tinnevelly, established in 1944, recently honoured MOTORINDIA Managing Editor & Publisher R. Natarajan by inviting him to be the chief guest at a special get-together attended by leading dignitaries of Tirunelveli.

Mr. S. Mohammed Yousuff Raja, President, Rotary Club of Tinnevelly, in his welcome address, thanked Mr. Natarajan for accepting the invitation.

Rtn. PP. PHF, Ramani of Sri Muthuvel Service, while introducing Mr. Natarajan to the august gathering, highlighted the role played by the late M. Rajagopalan, the Founder-Editor of MOTORINDIA, and the efforts he made in making it a most widely read automotive journal in the country.

He described Mr. Natarajan as a perfectionist, who, with his sincerity of purpose and diligence, has become very popular among Indian and international automotive industry circles.  

In his special address, Mr. Natarajan shared his views on the Indian automobile industry, its present status and future prospects. He said: “The Indian automotive industry has grown to greater heights in recent years. With changes in government policies, the industry has the potential to even lead the world. India, particularly Tamil Nadu, has become a manufacturing hub for some of the leading automotive players in the world. It is also significant to note that Tamil Nadu has an excellent aftermarket and service support system.”

In an informal interaction that followed, Mr. Natarajan cleared several points the Rotary Club members raised regarding availability of genuine spares, motor vehicle laws and the used car segment.
