HTL dates back to 1982 when it established its first forging unit at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh for supplying forging products to various OEMs. Even today, the company’s core business remains forging – approximately 4,000 tonnes of forging every year – while also diversifying into machined into machined components and allied parts. It boasts three manufacturing facilities in Baddi, two in Indore, and one in Gujarat.

“We are a listed entity now, rapidly expanding our capabilities and product portfolio to include more parts and clients to our fold. At this year’s Automechanika, we are targeting a mix of audience including aftermarket, OEM clients, dealers and distributors, etc. It’s a great platform for brand promotion as well”, said Mr. Mrinal Aggarwal, Director, HTL.

The company says that near about 40-43 per cent of its volume sales cater to commercial vehicles segment, supplying forged and machined parts like gears, shafts, crown wheels, pinions, axles, forks, steering levers and arms, suspension assembly, king pin and repair kits, to name a few. Some of HTL’s esteemed clients include Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, VECV, SML Isuzu, Mahindra Trucks, Dana, ZF Steering, Escorts, Brakes India and Meritor.

“Although 85 per cent of our sales is through OEM, we are improving our aftermarket presence as well with almost pan-India presence consisting of 40-odd distributors and more than 200 dealers across 23 States”, observed Mr. Aggarwal. HTL’s volume exports account for about 15 per cent, supplying its products to both organised aftermarket and OEM clients abroad.

“We are entering into precision forging in a short while. HTL has partnered with an overseas firm for technology transfer of precision forging, which remains to be a much-awaited venture for our company”, revealed the Director. Auto components apart, HTL is also manufacturing fully-built battery-electric rickshaws with complete in-house design and development.
