EVs, ADAS, and software-defined vehicles are rewriting the rules of repair. Workshops now need more than tools — high-voltage safety expertise, precise ADAS calibration, standardised processes, and constant upskilling to keep pace with the tech under the hood, says, Mr. Rishikesh Sahay, CEO, Emerging Auto Solutions & Technik (EAST Auto).
The automotive aftermarket is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by rapid technology adoption, changing customer expectations, and evolving vehicle technologies. Digitalisation, AI-enabled diagnostics, connected vehicles, predictive maintenance, and cloud-based workshop systems will increasingly shape service operations, making data-driven processes and technician upskilling critical for future competitiveness, Mr. Sahay said.

By 2030, the aftermarket is expected to evolve from a traditional repair business into a technology-led, customer-centric and sustainability-focused mobility ecosystem. Organisations that invest in technology, processes, and people will be best positioned to lead this transformation.
