One of India’s leading independent makers of powertrain and transmission aggregates, AVTEC displayed its all-new, future-ready products at the show. Part of the CK Birla Group, the company has come up with innovative and efficient powertrain solutions in the wake of the EV push by the Government and the industry as well as the upcoming BS VI emission norms.

Says Mr. Ravi Arora, Head – Branding and Communications, AVTEC: “With so much talk on stringent emission norms and electrification of vehicles, we at AVTEC are designing products that are innovative and powered by state-of-the-art technologies, to meet the future powertrain and transmission needs of OEMs. The new products are more compact, light-weight and efficient than the conventional ones”.

The new products showcased at Auto Expo were the Electric Drive Unit (EDU) designed for electric bikes which can be customized for 2-wheeled EVs as well, Euro-6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine, 5-speed AV25M transmission unit, lighter tubular camshafts, and some components for EVs.

The AV25M gearbox, in particular, is designed for modern small and light commercial vehicle applications. With a 3-piece aluminum design and longitudinal mounting, gear-shifting is either direct or cable warranted. The optional features that can be equipped with this transmission are the AMT technology, 6th speed, reverse inhibitor and electronic speedo, according to the company.

The EDU for e-bike that was debuted at the show, has been designed and developed by AVTEC’s Swiss-based subsidiary ASSAG. Modelled for an e-bike client of the company, the system is conceived as a technology demonstrator for AVTEC, targeting those OEMs now currently engaged in the development of EVs, especially in the two-wheeler segments.

“The electric drive system features light-weight and innovative gear geometry, resulting in compact design and lower noise-vibration levels”, claims Mr. Arora, while admitting that this product opens up new avenues for his company in terms of future adaptation to EV ecosystem in the automotive sector. “AVTEC will continue to work closely with its OEM clients to deliver cutting-edge technologies and products as per their needs and demands”, he affirms.
