WABCO Holdings Inc. has announced that it has been granted the prestigious Daimler Supplier Award in recognition of its outstanding performance during 2012. Headquartered in Germany, Daimler Trucks is the world’s largest manufacturer of trucks above 6 metric tons gross vehicle weight.

WABCO won its 2012 Daimler Supplier Award in the Electrics/Electronics category for outstanding performance on innovative brake components for the new Mercedes-Benz trucks Actros, Antos and Arocs. Daimler Trucks annually rewards top supplier performance in terms of technology, quality, cost and supply.

“We are proud to be honored by Daimler Trucks as we continue to deliver a world of difference through WABCO’s technology leadership, high quality, global connectivity and service excellence,” said Mr. Jacques Esculier, WABCO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Daimler’s Supplier Award demonstrates our ability to differentiate our products and services while still adding value to every dimension of our customer relationship, particularly as we continue to jointly pioneer technology innovations that improve vehicle safety and efficiency.”

WABCO is a global development partner to Daimler’s commercial vehicle division and has been supplying Daimler for more than 50 years. In 1981, the companies jointly introduced the first anti-lock braking system (ABS) for commercial vehicles, marking the path for further technology milestones that have continued to set new industry standards for vehicle safety and efficiency.

WABCO supplies Daimler Trucks at the global level with an industry-leading portfolio of electronic control systems as well as innovative mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic solutions for braking, engine transmission and chassis applications. WABCO supports Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, EvoBus, FUSO and BharatBenz brands.

Hino honours WABCO with Global Contribution Award

WABCO Holdings Inc. has announced that it has been honored by Hino Motors, Japan’s largest manufacturer of medium and heavy-duty trucks, with the Global Contribution Award that recognizes WABCO’s excellent performance during 2012.

Hino is majority owned by Toyota Motor Corporation, the world’s largest vehicle manufacturer. WABCO has been supplying Hino with breakthrough vehicle control and efficiency-focused technologies for over 20 years.

Hino’s 2012 Global Contribution Award recognizes WABCO’s technology leadership in terms of designing and supplying a new, cost-effective brake actuator, resulting in a significantly reduced number of actuator part variants, down from 48 to just six. It also recognizes WABCO Japan’s excellence in technical engineering support, with the company providing engineering expertise to support Hino’s in-house engineering team on the redesign of the vehicle braking system to accommodate WABCO’s new brake actuator.

“We are honored with this top global supplier award from Hino Motors, particularly as Hino uses the Toyota Production System to achieve continuing gains in efficiency, productivity and quality,” said Osamu Saito, WABCO Business Leader, Japan. “This award also marks our shared vision of technology leadership through design excellence, superior engineering and regional manufacturing, which also demonstrates WABCO’s ability to support leading customers in markets where they operate to make safer and more efficient trucks.”

In addition to brake actuators, WABCO supplies Hino with other vehicle control and advanced braking technologies, including anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic braking system (EBS), electronic stability control (ESC) and its award-winning air processing technologies that intelligently manage compressor use, increase the robustness of the vehicle’s air delivery systems and improve fuel economy.
