ZF’s sustained technology leadership

Cost reduction, reduced fuel consumption and high productivity determine the trends in the construction industry. A lot of new presentations, innovations and technical high performance should inspire the user of tomorrow. So does ZF, with value-added innovations.

At bauma 2016 ZF presented its latest products like ERGOPOWER Efficiency Package, the continuously variable construction machinery gear cPOWER as well as hybrid technology and electrification, with a view to giving an idea of the future of working machines.

As a system supplier ZF focuses on the entire drive and combines advanced software features with transmissions and axles. The focus of ZF developers is less fuel consumption, increased productivity, noise reduction, easier to use and increased driving comfort and safety.

For many years, ZF driveline and chassis systems have successfully met market challenges. With the EFFICIENCY PACKAGE ZF consolidates its competence in the transmission, axle and software development, thus offering more than the sum of individual advantages. This approach makes it possible to reconcile the frequently conflicting demands for enhanced comfort, increased productivity, less consumption and reduced component wear.

ZF cPOWER, the fully powersplit, continuously variable technology, with the long-term experience gained in the off-highway sector, offers significant consumption benefits and productivity increases for the vehicle owner.

cPOWER is a new technological benefit for off-highway machinery and allows for completely new drive concepts. Up to 25 per cent less consumption as well as up to 20 per cent more efficiency underline all advantages of the continuously variable transmission in typical operating cycles that create new megatrends for working machines.

Comprising electric machines and complete hybrid systems all from one source. The ZF-hybrid system is suitable for all ZF transmission forms and can be implemented for direct and separate transmission mounting. Thanks to this innovation, operating costs of the vehicle owner have been significantly reduced.

Electrification of attachments

The electrical drive is provided by a fluid-cooled three-phase asynchronous motor with a high power density and a following transmission stage. The motor is integrated in the wheel hub unit to save space. The system can also be optionally fitted with a wheel brake. The rated voltage is 400 V. The motor power and drive torque are sufficient for most requirements in off-highway applications.
