Witzenmann expanding operations in Indian plants

The Witzenmann Group is responding to the growing demand in the automotive engineering and industry sectors in India by extending the production areas at its two local sites. In the last 10 years alone, Witzenmann India has produced more than 10 million decoupling elements for cars and commercial vehicles for the local market. This success story is now to be continued in the industrial and rail transport sectors as well.

The Witzenmann Group of companies has so far invested about Rs. 800 million in both these sites and thus specifically serves the local growth markets.

The new production facilities for industrial expansion joints and cooling supply systems make up the lion’s share of the investments. The latter are used in electric locomotives, which are to replace the current vehicle stock of the Indian Railways.

The automotive and commercial vehicle industry of the sub-continent is also growing at a high level. In order to meet the expanding customer requirements, Witzenmann is stepping up its existing production to include a liner production, a further hydraulic bellows production as well as a new assembly line.

In Kolkata, a new production space has been acquired. In total, the production area at both the sites has increased from 25,000 sq. ft. to about 60,000 sq. ft.

Almost 200 employees work at the plants in Chennai and Kolkata. Depending on their position, these employees were trained individually at the German headquarters or directly on site.
