TII KAMAG has secured an order from a Brazilian mining company for six KAMAG Slag Pot Carriers (SPCs) featuring a U-frame design. Each vehicle has a payload capacity of 140 tonnes and will be deployed as part of a fleet renewal programme at an existing nickel plant in Brazil. The vehicles will transport hot slag between the plant and a remote slag disposal site.

The new vehicles will replace the customer’s existing fleet, marking its first procurement from the TII Group. Alongside technical performance, reliable support throughout the vehicles’ service life was a key factor in the customer’s decision. Working with its long-standing local partner RIMAC, TII KAMAG has therefore developed a comprehensive solution combining vehicle technology, digital services and a long-term supply of spare parts.
Designed for demanding operating conditions
The route between the nickel plant and the slag disposal site presents significant operational challenges. Along a section approximately one kilometre long, the Slag Pot Carriers must safely and reliably negotiate gradients of up to five per cent while carrying heavy loads.
To meet these requirements, TII KAMAG has adapted the vehicles to the specific operating conditions. For the first time, Slag Pot Carriers in this series are equipped with Caterpillar C18 diesel engines delivering 429 kW. The engines provide the power reserves required for fully loaded operation along the demanding route.

Each of the six KAMAG SPCs has a payload capacity of 140 tonnes and is designed to handle slag pots with a volume of up to 30 cubic metres.
“Our Slag Pot Carriers are based on an established vehicle concept that we configure specifically for the respective operating conditions. Working closely with the customer, we defined a high-performance overall solution that meets the requirements on site and combines high operational reliability with dependable service,” says Oliver Schwarz, Area Sales Manager at TII Group.
Enhanced safety over long transport distances
Given the demanding route and the remote location of the slag disposal site, the vehicles incorporate features designed to improve safety and operational reliability. A tyre pressure monitoring system continuously monitors tyre conditions during operation, enabling deviations to be detected at an early stage and helping prevent unplanned downtime.
The vehicles are also equipped with wet multi-disc brakes to ensure consistent braking performance on downhill sections. As the friction discs operate entirely in oil, heat is dissipated effectively, maintaining stable braking performance even during repeated downhill runs with a full load. The system also reduces wear, lowering maintenance requirements and the risk of unplanned downtime.
Digital monitoring and long-term spare parts support
Rapid service availability and short response times are central to the project’s support strategy. The KAMAG SPCs are equipped with KAMAG Connect, which transmits real-time vehicle notifications and fault messages.

Detailed fault codes help identify potential maintenance requirements at an early stage and enable service interventions to be planned more effectively. TII KAMAG can analyse the available information before a technician arrives on site, allowing the company to coordinate the necessary technical measures and arrange the required spare parts in advance. This approach helps shorten diagnostic and response times while minimising unplanned downtime.
KAMAG Connect is complemented by a project-specific spare parts agreement covering the initial years of operation. Combined with RIMAC’s local service support, the arrangement provides an integrated service solution designed to maximise fleet availability.
Local partnership with RIMAC
Sales, project coordination and service are being managed in close cooperation with RIMAC, a long-standing sales and service partner of the TII Group in Brazil. The partnership combines extensive local market knowledge with on-site service expertise to support customers throughout the vehicles’ operational life.

Deliveries are being completed in stages. The first Slag Pot Carrier is already on its way to Brazil, while two additional units have recently been completed. The remaining three vehicles are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026.
With this order, TII KAMAG is strengthening its position as a provider of application-specific transport solutions for the metallurgical and mining industries. The project also highlights the company’s approach of combining specialised vehicle technology, digital connectivity, long-term spare parts availability and reliable local service in a comprehensive package.
