TCI Safe Safar aims at spreading an effective message on health and road safety for the entire logistics and transportation industry. The main attraction of the programme is a specially fabricated, environment-friendly CNG vehicle that highlights the importance of health and road safety through engaging ‘nukkad nataks’, posters and quizzes. This truck is travelling to all parts of India where there are truck drivers urging everyone to participate and take the safety pledge.

Commenting on the official launch, Vineet Agarwal, Managing Director, TCI, stated: “With the alarming increase in road accidents, injuries and fatalities on Indian roads, it is important that we take decisive steps against irresponsible driving. Road safety is a shared responsibility and with TCI Safe Safar we are committed to the government’s initiatives towards road safety concerns in building a healthier and safer nation.”

Commenting further on the initiative, Chander Agarwal, Director, TCI, and Managing Director, TCI Express, said: “Every year, more than 150,000 Indians lose their lives in road accidents. Every accident starts a vicious cycle of trauma for countless people, and the TCI Safe Safar campaign was initiated to reduce the numbers of such accidents through a safe-driving awareness. We have reached out to thousands of drivers across the country, including non-TCI personnel as well. The response has been extremely encouraging and even Minister Nitin Gadkari was full of praise for the campaign and held an extensive discussion with us to identify ways that could promote such initiatives further.”

So far, TCI Safe Safar has successfully conducted 75+ events across 40+ cities, covering approximately 7,000 drivers, 9,500 pledges, reaching nearly 8.5 lakhs people pan-India. In the next one year the initiative aims to reach around 25,000 truck drivers.
