Tata Motors growth driven by M&HCV segment

Tata Motors continued to register strong year-on-year growth in certain key segments in August 2015, with passenger cars (excluding UVs), M&HCVs and exports growing by 19 per cent, 31 per cent and 16 per cent, respectively.

In commercial vehicles, M&HCV sales continued to grow at 12,017 units, higher by 31 per cent, over August 2014. The light & small commercial vehicle sales, however, continued to reflect industry decline and were at 12,267 units. These impacted the overall commercial vehicle sales of Tata Motors in the domestic market, at 24,284 units in August, a decline of four per cent over August 2014.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal totalled 1,20,322 units, lower by five per cent. Cumulative LCV sales totalled 64,080 units, a decline of 20 per cent over last year, while M&HCV sales at 56,242 units were higher by 21 per cent. 

The company’s exports totalled 5,202 units in August 2015, higher by 16 per cent compared to 4,480 vehicles in August 2014. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal, at 23,790 units, were higher by 25 per cent, over 19,070 units sold last year.

Cumulative sales, including exports, for the fiscal at 1,97,344 units were higher by four per cent over 1,90,516 vehicles sold last year.
