SML Isuzu Ltd., formerly known as Swaraj Mazda Ltd., is a well-known commercial vehicle manufacturer. The company was set up in 1985 as a joint venture between Sumitomo Corporation and Mazda Motor Corporation, both of Japan.

Foreseeing the market potential much ahead with a focus to timely address the growing demand in cargo as well as in passenger segments, SML forged a formidable alliance with Isuzu Motors of Japan, a global leader in commercial vehicle and diesel engines markets.

In order to broaden its product portfolio, SMLI, which is known for its engineering excellence, product upgradation and automation, keeps on introducing new products to the Indian market as per changing customer demands from time to time. For instance, it showcased at Municipalika, held in Navi Mumbai during May 18-20, 2017, two of its special application products meant for the use of municipal corporations. Its main vision is to address the emerging trends in waste handling by providing better solutions, both in terms of application and operational economics.

The exhibits at the show included the Supreme Twin Bin Dumper Placer. Each cabin with capacity of 3 cu m is useful to hook, lift, roll off and carry the garbage containers positioned at various designated locations in the city and carry them over to the mofussil landfills where the city waste is meant to be dumped. The automatic pick-up and dumping mechanism makes waste handling easy and saves time and money.

Also showcased was a small tipper, commonly known as Ghanta Gadi, built on the SARTAJ 5252 xm cabin chassis designed for solid waste disposal. This vehicle has been developed especially keeping in view the latest campaign of “Clean India” by the Indian Prime Minister.
