Shri Bhagiyalakshmi Travels wins India Bus Award

Shri Bhagiyalakshmi Travels (SBLT) was started in Chennai in 1987 by Mr. Dayalan with a pan-Indian presence. The company was expanded in due course by his five sons – Messrs. D. Elangovan, D. Maran,  D. Venkatesan,  D.Krishnan and  D.Lingam – known for their entrepreneurial skill. Sound management, pioneering ideas on fleet standardization and regular route review provided a strong base for growth for the company. Now the Group has 700 vehicles plying all over Chennai and providing daily trips to Peravurani, Ramnad and other major locations.

Besides specialised package tours undertaken for Sri Lankan and Malayasian clients, Shri Bhagiyalakshmi Travels conducts hi-tech air bus daily trips down south from Chennai. It has a standard fleet of hi-tech air bus, semi-sleeper, sleeper, A/C buses, Volvo 24, 35, 54 seater buses, Sumo, Qualis, Tempo Traveller, Tavera, Innova, and other standard vehicles in its fleet. Also, all types of luxury cars are available to cater to the different customer needs.

The company recently received the ‘India Bus Award’ in the category of ‘Excellence in Bus Transport-Private (South)’ at a grand ceremony organised by Abhibus in Hyderabad. Though the credit for this achievement goes to the entire management, a special mention has to be made about the distinct contribution made by Mr. D. Maran who has been actively involved in the growth and development of the company. Mr. Maran who is of soft nature and with a helping tendency has the distinction of holding the post of Treasurer of the Tamil Nadu Omni Bus Owners Association since 2001. He is also the Joint Treasurer of the Bus Operators Confederation of India (BOCI).
