Scania rolls out 1000th truck from Narasapura plant

Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd achieved an industry landmark of rolling out its 1000th truck from the Narasapura plant recently. Mr. Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, Scania India and Senior Vice President Scania Group, along with Mr. Richard Wardemark, Director Production and Service Operations, Scania India, flagged-off the 1000th truck from the assembly line in the presence of senior company executives and employees.

Mr. Wardemark said: “Since the launch of the truck manufacturing facility in 2013, Scania trucks have been a driving force in setting new trends in the commercial vehicle industry for its performance, safety and excellent Total Operating Economy (TOE). Our “customer first” approach has struck the right chords, and this principle has been a driving force in generating good business for Scania in India. Our customers benefit from our product’s performance and its innovative technology that offers a wide range of features in order to increase productivity and curtail operational cost for a sustainable and profitable business”.

Scania inaugurated its truck plant in October, 2013 and since then company has attained wide popularity for its premium products and services. Scania is the first truck manufacturer in India to deliver 200 P 410 (8×4) mining tippers to BGR in March 2015, making it India’s largest single order to date. Another milestone that the OEM recently achieved was certification of R 580 as the first on-road puller in India, R 580 with V8 engine is the most powerful truck in the country. Other products that Scania manufactures in India include G 410 (6×2) tipper, G 460 (6×4) truck and premium intercity Metrolink series of buses.

The OEM is setting high standards to make Indian commercial vehicle industry a safe and sustainable one. The vehicle manufacturer has also invested in customer support programs such as well-networked aftermarket service, Scania FMS (Fleet Management System) and driver training academy. Drivers play an integral part in operating economy of the fleet and a well-trained driver can cut fuel consumption by up to 11 per cent, improve productivity and manage vehicles efficiently for any possible vehicle wear and tear. Scania is also a strong advocate of on-road and on-ground (mining & construction) safety and all its products come with progressive safety system, some of which are first time in India and are becoming industry norm.
