Roots Industries Ltd. (RIL), the flagship company of the Roots Group and one of the world’s renowned producers of a wide range of electric horns, backup alarms and electronic horns for varied vehicle applications, is going aggressive in the global market with its newly-developed mechatronics solutions for commercial vehicles. The company made its debut at IAA, the world’s largest commercial vehicle fair, last year and presented a string of exciting products for the European market.
Said Mr. K. Saravanasundaram, Executive Director: “RIL has been well-known for horns, and we now want to move from mechanical and electrical products to mechatronic solutions which we believe will be the future. We are adding new products for different applications, for two-wheelers, passenger cars and trucks. We have strong presence in the US and are now exploring opportunities in Europe with our new products – smart USB chargers, DC to DC converter, inverters, etc., which are high on electronic content.”
RIL’s new smart USB charger is capable of charging any phone for which the required current rating varies from 0.9 A to 2.5 A. The charger has a unique ‘handshake’ mode that delivers the charging frequency based on the battery type and capacity which, in turn, prevents overheating or under-charging of the battery. The company has received good initial response from the OEMs and is currently in discussion with some leading European truck makers, apart from potential customers in the aftermarket in the region.
