The automobile industry is entering a period of rapid change, with digital engagement, alternative powertrains, data-driven operations and stronger customer relationships expected to shape the market through 2030. Mr. Utkarsh Agrawal, Director, Prem Auto, believes companies that adapt early while staying close to customer needs will gain a competitive advantage.

Digital platforms will increasingly influence sales, service bookings, payments, vehicle tracking and customer communication, with customers and dealers expecting faster and more transparent interactions. Meanwhile, CNG, EVs, hydrogen and other alternative technologies will progressively complement conventional powertrains, making early adaptation essential.

Workshop management will become increasingly data-driven. Metrics such as Sales-to-Service Ratio, bay productivity, technician productivity and repeat repairs can identify improvement opportunities. Prem Auto also sees continuous improvement through Kaizens and data-based decision-making as important tools for improving workshop revenue, efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Customer retention will become equally critical. AMC programmes, Extended Warranty, service packages and regular customer follow-ups can strengthen engagement while creating additional revenue opportunities throughout the vehicle ownership cycle.

“Vehicle uptime will be a major differentiator, particularly for commercial customers. Uptime facilities, remote diagnosis and faster technician support can help reduce downtime and keep vehicles productive,” Mr. Agrawal said.

Prem Auto’s vision centres on sustainable year-on-year growth across sales, customer engagement, after-sales service, workshop performance and network expansion. Three new setups are planned to become operational by the end of this year, while the company aims to double its sales volume over four years.

The company also sees significant potential in the small commercial vehicle segment with the introduction of the Eicher Pro X, alongside its objective of building a stronger presence across existing and new territories.

By 2030, Prem Auto plans to develop an integrated digital service ecosystem giving its dealership network easy access to performance indicators, customer interactions, service history and operational data. The aim is to improve visibility, transparency, decision-making and customer confidence. “We want to become the most preferred and trusted partner for VE Commercial Vehicles, Eicher Trucks & Buses, by continuously strengthening sales, service, customer experience and our dealership network,” Mr. Agrawal shared.

Ultimately, Prem Auto’s 2030 direction is centred on growth, digital enablement, customer centricity, operational efficiency and readiness for the future of mobility.

“By 2030, digitalisation, alternative fuels, data and uptime will shape automotive leadership.”
