Prior to this programme, there was a round table CXO meet of BOCI national leadership with captains of OEMs and allied industry. Against the backdrop of challenges faced by the industry due to the pandemic, the round table discussion focused on the way forward to revitalise this industry.

“World over, public transport is getting priority. But it’s shocking that a country like ours with 140 crore people is lagging behind in the public transport area. While 85% of the passenger movement in India is managed by private operators, there is a lack of awareness, infrastructure, regulatory framework and more. Bus and Car Operators Confederation of India has more than 20,000 members through its network of associations of 36 states and UTs, and we demand that the sector should get industry status, priority funding, world-class infrastructure, taxation relief, uniform regulations and priority to passenger transport. Through Prawaas 3.0 we are getting all those matters for public transport on to a single platform so that we can create a better roadmap for the growth of this sector,” said Prasanna Patwardhan, President, Bus and Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI).
