Orlaco’s vision solution pushes boundaries with CornerEye

With an advanced HD monitor and a robust camera, Orlaco is offering a vision solution that pushes the boundaries. CornerEye covers a field of vision that more than satisfies the criteria of vision classes V and VI. The system has a wide angle lens that combines with the latest technologies to deliver a field of vision of 270°. This is revolutionary in the truck industry, because this system makes every truck builder eligible for exemption from the pavement and front view mirror requirement, in accordance with mirror directive R46. CornerEye gives you a full and detailed picture of your surroundings, continuously and in real time! The HD camera shows every detail on the high-resolution HD monitor.

Improves the safety of the driver and other road users, reduces the level of damage and the number of accidents by getting an excellent view of blind spots. Add an extra pair of eyes that stay sharp in the dark and during bad weather, thanks to the high level of light sensitivity, even in the most extreme cold and volatile conditions. The camera is waterproof to IP69K standard and also shock and vibration-resistant.

Meets Automotive Requirements

The system has been specially designed for trucks and heavy machinery, and boasts a robust design that conforms to strict automotive requirements. It is produced in accordance with the approved quality standards ISO/TS 16949:2009 and ISO 9001:2008 and in line with CE marking standards. It is also approved under the demanding R10 criteria. The system does not interfere with driver concentration and cannot be affected by electromagnetic fields. In developing this system, Orlaco is remaining true to its vision of providing excellent visibility in blind spots and is setting new standards in the industry.

Orlaco introduces Ethernet Camera for OEMs

The images produced by the EMOS are for all intents and purposes displayed in real time, making it perfect for use on trucks, cranes, heavy construction and mining equipment, semi-automatic or remote controlled vehicles and more.

This compact, lightweight camera (55 x 60 x 24 mm; 150 g) has been specially developed for integration into on-board computer systems. Via the RTP and AVB protocols, the camera is able to stream MJPEG or H.264 to practically any type of monitor. The ISO17215 protocol, which is standard in the automotive industry, is used to communicate with the camera.

Orlaco’s newest camera is up and completely operational within two seconds and in combination with common hardware processing platforms, the total latency of the camera-monitor system is less than 100 ms. CMOS chip technology and a sensor with a high degree of light sensitivity (0.05 Lux) provide superb vision, night and day.

The EMOS is designed to perform under the most challenging of conditions. This ethernet camera is watertight (IP68/IP69k), shock-resistant (50 G), vibration-resistant (15 GRMS at a frequency of 24 – 2,000 Hz) and can handle temperatures from -40 to +85C.

Orlaco to introduce MirrorEye

Orlaco will introduce an intelligent camera system in 2017 to replace side mirrors on trucks and improve overall performance. MirrorEye’s impressive features include night vision, overtaking detection and an automated panning function.

A crystal-clear view of all traffic in the vicinity

MirrorEye consists of two High Definition (HD) cameras placed on either side of the cabin. The driver can view the camera images in real time on a split screen HD monitor in the window stile, providing him with an optimum view of road users alongside the truck or at an acute angle behind the truck, at all times, everywhere and under all circumstances.

Increased vision when you need it

The Night Vision function provides the driver with a better view of surrounding night traffic. In addition, MirrorEye has a panning function: the cameras automatically adjust when turning or reversing, providing drivers with a better view whilst performing these manoeuvres. Finally, the camera system will alert the driver as to whether the adjacent lane is occupied by another road user when he needs to change lanes.

Aerodynamic design leads to fuel savings

MirrorEye does more than just improve road safety. Tests also show that the system’s aerodynamic design results in a 1 to 2% reduction in fuel consumption when compared to a truck with traditional side-mirrors. Orlaco’s latest innovation obviously meets strict EMC standards and is manufactured according to the ISO/TS 16949 directives for the automotive industry. Camera and monitor brackets will be available for all makes of truck.
