Said Mr. Samir Patel, Director – Marketing, Orbit Bearings India Pvt. Ltd.: “We are displaying our new technology products for heavy and light CVs in the Indian market called unitized / Hub bearings which are maintenance-free. We have been successfully exporting these bearings to European truck and trailer OEMs for more than six years. In addition, we have also displayed our standard taper roller and cylindrical bearings at the show. We have received good response from our customers in the automotive segment and have also had some of our overseas customers visit us here at the show.”

The company has created a strong brand which is well accepted not just in the domestic market but also in developed markets such as Europe. Orbit believes its capacity to offer advanced technology products at competitive costs is the main reason behind its success both in India and globally. “We offer value-for-money products depending on our customers’ requirements. So if a customer wants a bearing with ‘x’ years of life, that’s what we are capable of delivering. While we are recognized by almost all OEMs in the CV space in India, the fact that a major share of our exports is to highly-developed markets such as Germany shows that quality comes first at Orbit”, added Mr. Patel.

The mixed performance of different vehicle segments such as automotive, commercial vehicles and tractors has resulted in a balanced financial year for Orbit. “While the tractor segment has not performed too well due to poor monsoons, the recovery in the CV segment has played a vital role in boosting our sales. We have done very well in the CV space, with both domestic and export sales growing. Overall, we expect to grow by around 25 to 30 per cent in FY16 and hope to do better in the next fiscal”, he disclosed.

A major development at Orbit during the current year would be the commissioning of its new plant at Rajkot which would give it a capacity boost of 3,00,000 bearings per annum in the first phase that would be further ramped up to about 10,00,000 bearings per annum in the second phase.
