OK Play India Ltd., a leader in Roto-Moulding technology used for producing heavy duty, high density plastic items for the automotive industry since 2003, has announced the launch of E-Raaja, India’s first 100 per cent indigenously designed E-rickshaw. The ICAT-certified vehicle with plastic body is most pollution-free and environment-friendly.
Launching the E-Raaja, the next generation environment-friendly vehicle, Mr. Rajan Handa, Managing Director, OK Play India Ltd., said: “We are extremely happy to launch the E-Raaja at a time when India is moving towards pollution-free vehicular transport solutions. Made in India

Elaborating on why OK Play chose E-Rickshaws as a segment to make a big foray in the automobile industry, he observed: “The transition was natural as, for over 2 decades now, OK Play India has been ingeniously using the Roto-Moulded plastics process and has the expertise to create world-class, environment-friendly automotive plastic products that excel in safety, quality and durability. The plastic body OK Play green E-Rickshaws have multiple advantages over the conventional metal body E-rickshaws. Apart from being lightweight, they are maintenance-free and can be moulded in a wide range of light fast and permanent colours. The inherent quality of the plastic ensures high standard of hygiene and the mouldable design makes the E-Rickshaw extremely safe and comfortable for passengers, drivers and the road users.
The OK Play E-Rickshaw is made from the highest quality plastic which is completely safe, ergonomically designed with smooth, rounded edges, wide and sturdy bases and easy to grip handles. It is more durable, weather-proof and easy to install and will be available in a range of vibrant colors.
Marketing plans
Sharing the marketing plans Mr. Handa said: “In the initial phase, OK Play will simultaneously launch E-Rickshaws in the North and South India. With a production capacity of 3,00,000 E-Rickshaws per year, OK Play has its two manufacturing units, one at Sohna in Haryana to cater to the North Indian market and the other at Ranipet in Tamil Nadu to cater to the South Indian market.”
On the market size, he said: “By conservative estimates, there are over 10 million cycle rickshaws and 7.5 million auto-rickshaws in the country, which could potentially be replaced over a period of time. Thus, there is a huge market opportunity which theoretically could run into hundreds of thousands of crores.”
OK Play has tied up with an insurance company of national repute to provide insurance cover to all its E-Rickshaws on a pan-India basis.
Aftersales service support
OK Play has tied up with ‘CROSS ROADS’, India’s leading ‘on-road’ service provider, on an exclusive basis. In the first year, the service comes free to the buyer. If an E-Rickshaw gets a flat tyre, a specific number can be dialled for a vehicle to take care of the puncture for a minimal charge of Rs. 20. In case of any irrepairability of the vehicle on road, vehicle-to-vehicle toeing service is provided at a low charge.
OK Play has lined up an extensive network of garages for repairs and service of E-Rickshaws. The target is to get a garage for E-Rickshaw within 5 km of breakdown zone, so that no payment is made for vehicle toeing. The garages would also be used for overnight charging of E-Rickshaws.
The light, comfortable and aesthetically designed E-Raaja would provide safe, affordable, convenient, pollution-free transport solution and last-mile connectivity to commuters, a real blessing, especially in large metros like Delhi which are struggling with a dangerous level of vehicular pollution.
With a capacity of carrying over 400 kg, the E-Raaja can easily accommodate four people, in addition to the driver, making the commute most economical. The eco-friendly nature and efficiency makes the battery-operated vehicle ideal for transporting commuters to their doorstep from public transport terminals.
The air and noise pollution-free vehicles are also ideal for use as tourist vehicles near protected heritage sites. They would not only provide easy entry and exit through the narrow lanes and crowded areas, but also add an element of liveliness with their vibrant colours and striking design.
