More scope for Indian auto sector investment in Thailand

The Confederation of Indian Industry – Southern Region recently organized a seminar in Chennai on “Investment Opportunities in Thailand for Indian Automotive Sector” with the officials of the Board of Investment (BOI), Thailand. They were in the city from August 18 to 21 to interact with the industry and promote business investments.

This objective of the seminar was to provide an opportunity for the Indian industry members to interact closely with officials from BOI and assess the various possibilities and business opportunities for India and Thailand to work together.

Mr. R. Prabhakaran, Member, CII SR Task Force on International Linkages, and Executive Director – Group Marketing & Business Development, Amalgamations Group, chaired the session and gave a brief overview of Thailand. He also spoke about the economic, cultural and commercial partnership between India and Thailand.

Mr. Somsak Triamjangarun, Consul General, Consulate of Kingdom of Thailand, covered the salient points with reference to the existing business and trade ties between Thailand and India. He briefly outlined the trade opportunities available in Thailand and offered his support for improving the relationship between the two countries.

Mr. Chanin Khaochan, Deputy Director of Investment Promotion Bureau 2 (Metal, Metal Products, Machinery and Transport Equipment), Thailand Board of Investment, explained the investment opportunities available in Thailand for the Indian automotive sector, and highlighted the advantages, benefits and incentives one can avail by investing in Thailand.

He also explained the role and responsibility of the Thailand Board of Investment and appealed to the Indian industry to take advantage of the business opportunities available in that country.
