Mitsuboshi Belting to focus on commercial vehicles too

Mitsuboshi Belting Ltd. began business in Kobe, Japan, in 1919. Over the years, its sales and service have expanded a lot. While business has grown together with market expansion, production systems have also improved.

Today the Mitsuboshi Group operates around the world, and looking into the 21st century and beyond, it is becoming an important contributor to more affluent lifestyles worldwide.

According to Mr. Fumihito Nakagawa, Managing Director, Mitsuboshi Belting – India Pvt. Ltd., Mitsuboshi is one of the largest and high quality producers of belts for different applications, including for automotive industry. With its headquarters in Japan, it commenced its operations in Navi Mumbai in 2010 as a fully-owned subsidiary at an investment of Rs. 40 crores. With a workforce of 50, its focus as a Japanese firm is always on world class quality, and accordingly it has set up its Development Centre in Navi Mumbai with good infrastructural faclities.

Since India has already been reckoned as one of the fastest growing automotive markets in the world, the company has decided to develop belts locally for both OE and aftermarket requirements.

Currently, the company imports and supplies automotive belts to car and two-wheeler manufacturers in India, and will soon shift its focus to commercial vehicles too. For the purpose, its negotiations with different commercial vehicle majors are in progress. It also has plans to enter the aftermarket business segment for which it has taken up a market survey.
