“We at MANN + Hummel are pretty much equipped to support our key customers in meeting this requirement of BS-VI. We have displayed at our stall exactly the solutions that the OEMs are looking for, like the state-of-the-art 3-stage water separation fuel filter, oil filters, charge air ducts, cabin air filters, which improve the comfort in the cabin, engine components such as intake manifolds integrated with charge air coolers, integrated crankcase ventilation system and design solutions,” beamed P.S. Krishna Kumar, Director – Automotive, MANN + Hummel.

The equivalent of Euro 6 emission norms that is BS-VI in India, which will come into force in 2020, is of great interest to many auto component companies. A clear segregation of the component show at Auto Expo helped OEMs interact with component makers with much intensity. “It has been a very good experience at Auto Expo as we have hosted all the major OEMs and interacted with key decision makers from customer teams and helped them understand how MANN + Hummel has grown by leaps and bounds in India in the past 6-7 years,” averred Kumar. The CV industry which has been witnessing recovery owing to the replacement demand in the last nine months has also boosted the growth of MANN + Hummel.

Proximity to customers

MANN + Hummel has a very strong philosophy to make products that meet the local requirements. “We are pretty much focused on how we service the local market. In 2006 we started with a plant in South India and by 2012 we set up a new state-of-the-art plant in Bawal. So wherever the markets are demanding and are showing positive growth we will continue to expand and believe in being in close proximity to our customers”, the   Director added.

In its endeavor to be closer to customers, MANN + Hummel has built a very strong network of distributors. “In passenger cars we have nearly 32 distributors and for commercial vehicles around 60 pan-India. We have plans for developing more as we spread across different product ranges,” he summed up.
