Ashok Kapoor, Country Head, Kold Seal

Ashok Kapoor, Country Head, Kold Seal, is a passionate man. His single mission is to create and nurture a company that can manufacture world-class refrigerated containers. Part of the renowned Trans ACNR Solutions that owns popular brands like JTAC and Hwa Sung Thermo in India, Kold Seal is geared to meet the growing demand of refrigerated containers in the cold chain industry. Some of the key factors adding value to the growth of Kold Seal and its customers are strong support from Trans ACNR Solutions, management of Trans ACNR with the experience of three decades in temperature-controlled transportation, JTAC bus air-conditioners and Hwa Sung Thermo’s truck refrigerators).

Leading with Innovation

The research and development of Trans ACNR is recognised by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The company offers countrywide network for sales and after-sales services, working closely with all OEMs. It has established strong relationship with international players and the component supply chain. A dynamic young team is in place to adapt to changes and face challenges. It was thus a matter of time that Kold Seal’s first brush with customer accreditation came. “We at Kold Seal consider innovation as one of our biggest strengths that has helped us make different types of containers to meet our clients’ varied requirements,” Kapoor states.

“For example, the Indian Army was looking for a container that is light in weight as well as sturdy to withstand any challenging conditions. Our research and development team along with assistance from Lamilux worked together and created the first military grade container using special military grade GRP material that has been used even in spaceships for light weight and durability. In another instance we have made a corrugated container to make airflow four dimensional so as to reduce the reefer unit running time by 18-20%,” Kapoor adds.

With its many first-class experiences for customers, Kold Seal became the first company in India to be approved by ICAT in the refrigerated manufacturing segment. “Since our inception in the year 2016, Kold Seal has successfully supplied and supported over 1,150+ containers. This has been possible with a very humble yet state-of-the-art production facility covering an area of 40,000 sq. feet with production capacity of more than 50 vehicles per month that can be scaled up to 80 vehicles per month. In a very short span of time, we have been able to gain the trust of some of the tops name like the Indian Army, RKFL, Hatsun Agro, Suguna Foods, Swift Cold Chain Group, etc.,” Kapoor informs.

The Human Touch

Kold Seal understands that one of the easiest ways to create a cult-like business relationship with customers is through customer experience. Elaborates Kapoor: “While we work toward our goal to create top-quality products, we do not lose sight of customization and understanding what the customer needs. We recently did a project with Uttarakhand Sheep Board under the supervision of Dr. Shirish Shirsat, COO of USGCF, and came up with a first-of-its-kind container that is refrigerated and has space to take livestock to the butchery. This combination of a cold and dry container is quite an asset and a patented design for USGCF.”

A perfect combination of MS and GRP, eutectic plates-based containers which could save significant amount of running cost are some of the other projects that Kold Seal has successfully delivered. Says Kapoor, “The recent contract of manufacturing 1,000 lightweight containers on an electric vehicle with Korean brand OMEGA SEIKI is one of the ambitious projects we have in store.” Kold Seal’s manufacturing units at Derabassi, Punjab (near Chandigarh) was established to cater to the market of North India. The very encouraging response and customer approach from other parts of country gave the company confidence for expansion and one of the finest factories is being set up over 15 acres of land at Neemrana in Rajasthan.

“Through countywide assembly points we have already started delivering insulated boxes in CKD and will expand our activity shortly across other parts of country as well as in the UAE.” Kapoor informs. It can be easily said that the new expansion plan will help Kold Seal realise its ambition to provide world-class refrigerated containers. With the passion of Ashok Kapoor aptly mixed with purpose, we are in to see a change in the world of refrigerated containers in India where where every detailed requirement of the client is carefully transformed into the perfect design.
