Jotwire India, part of the Ouneva Group of Finland, manufactures cable and wire harnesses, electro-mechanic and system assemblies for companies in the special vehicle, electronics, engineering and electricity industries. The company is located in IMT Manesar in Gurgaon.

MOTORINDIA had an opportunity to meet Mr. Ravi Sharma, General Manager – India, Jotwire India Pvt. Ltd., recently in Chennai and discuss about the global company’s operations in India. “We are well known in Europe for our wiring and cable harnesses for off-road and on-road heavy vehicles, mining, construction equipment, buses, trucks and tractors. When we decided to enter the Asian market, India was our first choice due to its excellent growth potential. We are operating here for the past two years and have started production recently. As a business model we started exporting to our parent company so that we cover our initial cost and then plan to open up for the Indian market”, said Mr. Sharma.

Jotwire India started working with major construction companies in the country and is exploring opportunities to enter the commercial vehicle segment. “We look forward for supplying quality harnesses for truck and bus manufacturing in India at a reasonable and competitive cost from our facility in Gurgaon. The unit is equipped with European and Japanese harness testers to which we program ourselves. Jotwire has supply agreements with some of the leading component manufacturers of the world. We do volume buying in Finland which makes us cost effective in India”, says Mr. Sharma.

The Ouneva Group has three state-of-the-art automated facilities in Finland, a unit in Estonia and has started its new facility in India recently. The Indian wing of Jotwire aims to achieve a turnover of Rs. 30 crores within a short span of two years.

“India is a big market which is labour intensive. The cost of labour is quite cheap here and that’s the reason we are here”, says Mr. Jarno Merilainen, Development Manager, Jotwire Ouneva Group, who was also in Chennai recently.
