Grammer AG underscored its role as a leading developer and manufacturer of seats for commercial vehicles by presenting a large number of innovative products at the IAA Commercial Vehicle show 2014. The seat maker had showcased its new ‘MSG 115’ truck driver seats with electromotive accessed seat adjustment an integrated haptic warning system for bus driver seats and new designs for the commercial vehicle aftermarket. Grammer supplies products for both initial installation and retrofitting trucks and for other commercial vehicles.

Haptic warning system or the Lane departure warning system

An integrated driver assistance system, called the haptic warning system or the lane departure warning system (LDWS), was displayed for the first time targeting the OEMs. The system helps bus drivers to avoid inadvertently swerving out of their lane and causing an accident. The system works silently without disturbing the passengers. It consists of two vibration motors that are integrated in the seat cushion on the left and right and vibrate perceptibly if the vehicle passes over the left or right lane divider, which is detected by infrared sensors on the underbody.

Seeking partners for new products

Expressing his concern on entering in to the potential Indian market, Mr. Uwe Bertram, Director Sales, Product & Market Segment Truck, Grammer AG – Seating Systems, said to MOTORINDIA, “Currently we are not yet represented in our premium products in the Indian market”.
