Goldhofer’s latest innovations score

Goldhofer Aktiengesellschaft enjoyed resounding success at bauma with a veritable feast of innovations. The top-seller at open-air stand No. FN 823/1 was Goldhofer’s world first by the name of “ADDrive”, the German company’s brand-new switchable drive for heavy duty axles.

“The response has been outstanding. The numbers sold in Munich show that we have again developed just the solution the heavy-haulage industry has been waiting for,” said Stefan Fuchs, CEO of Goldhofer Aktiengesellschaft. Making its debut at bauma, Goldhofer’s MPA-K modular system for the semi-trailer generation with MPA axle technology was also a big success.

As a third international innovation, Goldhofer presented its ground-breaking self-propelled module PST/ES-E 4 285 heavy-duty axle system, which features 25 per cent hydraulic width adjustment for enhanced lateral stability.

Depending on customer requirements, the number of powered axles on both the PST modules exhibited together with the “Faktor 5” at bauma 2016 can be individually and flexibly configured. This enables the best possible adjustment of vehicles to the traction force required for the planned transport projects as well as to the respective customer budget.

The PST modules are also quite impressive in terms of safety, reliability and maintenance effort: Closed loading platforms, for instance, ensure workplace health and safety while oil flushing pipes on the hydrostatic drive provide better cooling performance, and thus not only keep the engines from overheating but also minimize wear. Both the PST/SL and the PST/SL-E can be driven permanently under full load without running hot.

And finally, the tried-and-tested, robust and high-performance components of the power packs also contribute significantly to the vehicles’ long service life and maintenance of value.

While the PST/SL is equipped with mechanical steering, the PST/SL-E comes with electronic multiway steering and an extreme steering angle of ±135°. This cutting-edge technology enables a wide range of perfectly synchronized steering modes – from front and rear axle steering to carousel and counter steering to crab steering, where the PST/SL-E moves diagonally to its longitudinal axis. Even free combinations and steering synchronization of several modules as well as the steering synchronization with mechanically steered vehicles are possible with electronic multiway steering.

That way, the modules, together with their respective load, can be precisely and quickly positioned, saving time and presenting significant advantages, especially when loading, reloading or unloading cargo. The extreme manoeuvrability of the PST/SL-E also makes steering easier, faster and more efficient when driving on difficult terrain, narrow roads or construction sites. In other words: the PST/SL-E is a transport solution that will pay off quickly.
