FlixBus Marks Two Years in South India, Plans to Add 120 Buses

FlixBus India, the global travel-tech company, is marking two years of operations in South India, with more than 50% of its India network now spanning the region, as the company records strong growth across key southern markets. In September 2026, FlixBus’s network from Hyderabad grew 159% year-on-year, Bengaluru grew 260%, and Chennai grew 100%, compared to September 2025.

As it enters its third year in the South, the company is set to add 120 buses across its southern network during Q3-Q4, while expanding connectivity to destinations including Guntur, Coonoor, and Ooty. As part of this expansion, FlixBus also launched a new Hyderabad-Pondicherry connection with a Volvo Sleeper service, strengthening inter-state connectivity between Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

FlixBus entered South India in September 2024 with its initial network connecting Bengaluru with Chennai and Hyderabad. Over the past two years, the company has expanded across the region, connecting major urban centres with regional and leisure destinations. The next phase will strengthen connectivity across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, with Guntur expanding regional reach in Andhra Pradesh, while Coonoor and Ooty extend the network into established hill and leisure destinations.

Mr. Surya Khurana, Managing Director, FlixBus India, said South India has become a significant part of FlixBus India’s journey, with more than half of its network now in the region reflecting the depth of opportunity the company sees there. He said the next phase is about building density, connecting more cities, increasing capacity, and making intercity travel more accessible and dependable, adding that the company’s asset-light model, combined with local operating partnerships and Flix’s technology and network expertise, allows it to scale while remaining responsive to how people travel in India.

The expansion is part of FlixBus India’s broader focus on building a connected intercity mobility network across India through technology and partnerships with regional bus operators, with the company continuing to prioritise consistency in safety, service, and passenger experience as it enters its third year in South India.
