Exide announces Rs. 6000-crore investment in Karnataka

Exide Industries has announced an investment of Rs. 6000 crores in Karnataka as part of its plans to set up a Lithium-ion cell manufacturing giga factory in the State. Subir Chakraborty, MD & CEO, Exide Industries, met with Basavaraj Bommai, Karnataka CM, and his team to confirm the investment. Exide has requested 80 acres of land in the Haraluru Industrial Area near Bengaluru airport for the new plant which will be one of India’s largest giga factories for advanced cell chemistry technology. The project is expected to generate employment opportunity for around 1200-1400 people.

Sharing her thoughts, Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development, Director, Department of Industries & Commerce, said: “The State of Karnataka provides an excellent industrial environment, infrastructure, and support to the investors and we are very happy to explore bigger investment opportunities in Bengaluru. Exide project will provide more than 1200-1400 direct and indirect job opportunities in the next few days. The venture will not only enable us to keep innovating and accelerating growth but also showcase our strong ability to ‘Build for the World’.”
