Speaking to MOTORINDIA, Mr. Volker Biesenbruck, Managing Director, Edscha Trailer Systems GmbH, said: “Three years ago, we had showcased our tipper roof, this time we are showcasing the updated model with electrical drive. The show model was developed in co-operation with Daimler and the bodybuilder Carnehl and will be available for test drive and functional test at the Daimler Customer Centre in Wörth, Germany. This presentation is necessary before the active sales begins and believe we have an advantage in the market as we see growing acceptance for the new product.”

For the details, the electric drive is operated using an adjustable capstan winch, and the system can be operated at any time, almost wear-free, and has a manual emergency function. This modular concept, which has been registered for patent approval, allows adaptation to various structures. Controls for use with a hydraulic flap are integrated. The E-Drive can be controlled using a switch on the trailer and a switch in the cab with a tilt indicator and overload protection and with its own Android app via Bluetooth. A connection for external operation and a CAN-bus are also integrated. Another plus point is the low power consumption of under 20 amps at 24 volt, which is unique compared to its competition. Thus, there is no problem connecting the Edscha E-Drive to the existing electrical system on the vehicle. No additional protection is necessary.

On the Indian front, the MD was quite optimistic. He expressed: “India is a very important market for us and that’s why we have invested time, money and resources to develop our presence in the market. Of course, in some areas it will grow faster and in some slower but nevertheless we have got a great platform to build on for the coming years.”

Mr. Roger Remmel, Area Sales & Brand Manager, Edscha Trailers Systems GmbH, who has worked from scratch to establish the Edscha brand in India, believes the company will reap the benefit of its efforts put in during the formative years. “It has taken us 5-6 years to reach where we are today. We are being recognized in different parts of the country and are successful in convincing several operators to use our products. Our global management also has backed us in our plans, and we expect that in the next 3-4 years we will add a lot more business to our global sales from India,” shared Mr. Remmel.
