The inventor of the sliding roof technology for trucks globally, Edscha Trailer Systems, part of the VBG Group, made its presence felt at the truck, trailer and tyre expo. Ringfeder Power Transmission (India) Private Ltd., another VBG Group company, is responsible for sales and service of Edscha Trailer roofing systems and Ringfeder Trailer couplings in India. With over five years now in India and some renowned customers like Transystem, the company is looking at some really good time ahead.
“The automotive (car companies) are driving the change in terms of bringing new systems in the Indian market. The product, a full tarpaulin curtain sider solution with a sliding roof on the top and the sides, offers customers a key advantage of quicker loading and unloading, leading to better efficiency and faster turnaround time for operators. Car companies prefer a robust product, like the one we offer, with a car carrier operator so as to avoid any chances of scratches to the premium cars coming to India,” asserted Dheepan Ramalingam, Managing Director, Ringfeder Power Transmission (India) Private Ltd.
Another key benefit for users (truck-trailer fleet operators) is the increased payload on offer. Edscha expects the concept to catch up faster as more customers start experiencing its products and their advantages. “Ours is a B2C product, and once a potential customer sees it being used by somebody else, he is curious about it. Once the initial hesitation over price ad safety is resolved, he would try to understand the total cost of ownership of a collapsible roof/side top,” explained Dheepan.
Having reasonable presence in the southern and northern markets in India, Edscha is looking to expand in the western markets, like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
“Truck Trailer and Tyre Expo in Gujarat offers a new platform for us to showcase our brand expertise. We have not focused on this part of the country. It is a great opportunity for us to help transporters here understand our products. Our intention is to spread the awareness that if it is roof it has to be Edscha,” said Sabareesh Jayaraman, Area Manager – Sales, Edscha Trailer Systems.
