Domestic CV sales slowly but surely getting back to pace

While two-wheelers, entry level passenger cars and tractors continue to lead the market recovery post-COVID, commercial vehicles sales also seemed to be getting back to pace in the month of October 2020. With the festive season underway, supply chain getting realigned, market sentiments improving and demand picking up, the upcoming months could see a much-needed revival in the CV space.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors sales in the domestic and international markets for October 2020 stood at 52,132 vehicles, compared to 41,354 units during October 2019. The company sold a total of 26,052 CVs in Oct 2020 as compared to 25,983 units during the same month last year.

Ashok Leyland

Ashok Leyland recorded a 14% growth in M&HCV truck sales, both domestic and exports, in October’20 compared to the same month in the previous year. The company sold 4,021 vehicles in the category in Oct’20 as against 3,531 units in Oct’19. It also registered a jump of 14% in LCV sales, selling 5,401 units in Oct’20 as compared to 4,731 units in Oct’19.

VE Commercial Vehicles

VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (VECV) has recorded sales of 4,200 units in October 2020 (YTD 14496 units) as compared to 3,755 units in October 2019 (LYTD 28,456 units), recording growth of 11.9% (YTD decline 49.1%). This includes 4,130 units of Eicher brand and 70 units of Volvo brand.

Mahindra & Mahindra

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has sold 23,716 commercial vehicles, starting from LCVs up to M&HCVs including three-wheelers, in the domestic market in October 2020 as against 30,733 units sold in the same month last year.
