Daimler Truck Launches New Global Defence Brand, Targets €1 Billion in Revenue by 2028

Daimler Truck has launched a new global brand, Daimler Truck Defence, bringing together its worldwide defence activities under one unified identity as the company positions defence as a key pillar of its growth strategy. The portfolio currently includes vehicles from Mercedes-Benz Trucks and will be progressively expanded to incorporate solutions from other Daimler Truck vehicle brands.

To support this growth, Daimler Truck will invest a mid-three-digit million-euro amount over the coming years to expand its engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service capabilities, with the goal of offering governments worldwide a broader range of military mobility and logistics solutions. The company currently has approximately 1,000 employees engaged in its defence business, with the growth strategy being driven primarily from its Wörth site in Germany. Daimler Truck has set a target of generating €1 billion in defence-related revenue by 2028.

Mr. Karin Rådström, CEO of Daimler Truck, said, “Defence is a key pillar of Daimler Truck’s growth strategy. We are making targeted investments in our production facilities, the development of new solutions, and the expansion of our sales and service network. At the same time, we are leveraging Daimler Truck’s global strengths across regions and brands to scale our defence business significantly.”

Mr. Dennis Kinzelmann, CEO of Daimler Truck Defence, said, “Demand for reliable military mobility is growing worldwide. With our global manufacturing network, resilient supply chains, strong partnerships and expanded product portfolio, we can deliver military vehicles and mobility solutions quickly, at scale and with high standards. Our ambition is clear: to become one of the leading providers of military mobility solutions through our global technology and production network.”

The company’s manufacturing plants in Wörth am Rhein, Germany, and Molsheim, France, form the backbone of its European defence manufacturing activities, enabling military variants to be integrated into existing production lines. Daimler Truck also offers local assembly of militarised Mercedes-Benz trucks in customer countries, supported by a global service network spanning approximately 5,000 locations across more than 160 countries.

Recent contract wins underline the scale of the company’s defence ambitions, including a major Bundeswehr order for military logistics vehicles in the three-digit unit range, a contract with the Canadian Armed Forces in cooperation with General Dynamics Land Systems covering at least 1,500 logistics trucks, and a framework agreement with the French Armed Forces in partnership with Arquus for 7,000 trucks based on the Zetros platform.
