Daimler India Commercial Vehicles signs MoU with PSG Polytechnic

Exhaustive technical training for DICV employees

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, has signed a memorandum of understanding with PSG Polytechnic, Coimbatore, aimed at developing the skills and further enhance the opportunities for DICV’s shop-floor employees.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Marc Llistosella, Managing Director & CEO, DICV, and Dr. R. Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG Polytechnic, in the presence of Dr. K. Visalakshi, State Coordinator – SPCU, Department of Technical Education (DOTE).

The project will have a hands-on approach in providing technical training and curriculum development to employees. With the constant expansion of industry, adoption of new technologies and the greater focus on quality & reliability, proper employee training assumes special significance. DICV, in its efforts to provide the Indian trucker ‘a whole new trucking experience’, lays much emphasis on training to ensure that it delivers on its promise of quality and reliability.

Speaking on the new development, Mr. Marc Llistosella observed: “We are glad to partner with a remarkable institution like PSG that will aid in enhancing the skill levels of our employees. The need for continuous improvement is of vital importance. DICV is committed to this effect in line with its goal to provide high quality and reliability to the Indian truck customer. Hence the need to focus on content, commitment, character and communication as the strong pillars for proper development”.

Dr. Rudramoorthy said: “It is vital that corporates and academia share a symbiotic relationship. With these initiatives, we can create a large pool of skilled workforce in the country. DICV employees will receive over 840 hours of combined practical and theory training. At the end of the course, they will be certified in “Assembly Techniques”.

Dr. Visalakshi commented: “This MoU between DICV and PSG Polytechnic follows the path of several initiatives by DOTE that strive to improve technical education in the State. It will add momentum to technical education that will help the growing industry and handling of new technologies”.

This course, approved by the Directorate of Technical Education of Tamil Nadu, includes behavioral training, English language training and on-the-job training, apart from other technical subjects. With its philosophy of modernizing the Indian CV industry, Daimler continually aims at increasing customer delight. This initiative will help in building a productive workforce and maintaining high quality levels.
