DAFO-Safex Fire partnership making rapid strides

Two years ago, Swedish company Dafo found its partner Safex Fire at Busworld in Mumbai. At the latest edition of the show, both partners jointly displayed their fire safety solutions which received great response from visitors. The Dafo-Safex Fire partnership has had a head-start in the Indian market, given the growing attention to fire safety in buses, following the recent fire mishaps in the country.

Says Mr. Holger Pfriem, Export Manager, Dafo Brand AB: “We participated in the last edition of Busworld India with no big expectations and found our partner Safex Fire. We then realized that safety is considered a big issue in India and today we have contacts with all major OEMs in the Indian bus market and look forward to a successful run here. We feel the time is right for our solutions in India and see a big positive challenge in the country.”

The regulations for fire safety in buses are in progress as to whether it would just be fire detection system or a complete fire detection and suppression system (FDSS). Dafo, through Safex Fire, has already delivered its systems to Scania and other OEMs in the Indian market and is in talks with others as well, apart from exploring retrofit options.

“We have delivered our systems to Scania and are looking at other OEMs apart from targeting both the retrofit market and line production. We have received enquiries from leading STUs and private fleet operators for both OEM-fitted and retrofit FDSS in engine compartment, luggage compartment, battery area and fuse box area”, briefs Mr. Rishit Shah of Safex Fire Services Ltd.
